Cost of Giving Birth in Singapore for Foreigners: Updated for 2022

The cost of giving birth in Singapore can cost between SGD$4,000 and SGD$12,000. For a C-section, you might expect to pay SGD$17,000.

There are public and private hospitals in Singapore. Costs of giving birth are generally higher in private hospitals and the subsidies offered in public hospitals are only granted to Singaporean Citizens and Permanent Residents. This means that if you are a foreigner (Employment Pass Holder), you will be required to pay the full price out of your own pocket.

How Much Does it Cost to Give Birth in Singapore?

The Singapore Ministry of Health regularly publishes average cost of giving birth of hospitals in the city. From these figures, we can get an indication into how much it costs to give birth in Singapore.

When you are doing your research, please take note that you are comparing 'apple to 'apple' , in order to avoid confusion. Obviously, the cost of 2 days' stay for normal vaginal delivery will be different from a 2 days' stay for a delivery by Caesarean section even within the same hospital.

The information below refers to typical costs in private hospitals and for a standard private room (1-bed). The figures quoted are based on actual bill size data submitted by the hospitals. The bill sizes for public hospitals are complete and include all charges including doctors' professional fees.

The data for private hospitals, however, may not be complete as not all doctors' professional fees may be fully accounted.
